Principal's Message

Kristin Haas

Dear Henry Clay Families,

It is with great excitement that I join the Henry Clay Elementary community as the new principal! The Ashland community is dear to my heart as I most recently served as John Gandy Elementary’s assistant principal. During this time, I have had the pleasure to get to know many of the families served by both Henry Clay and John Gandy. The support of the families, PTA, and community has always been strong, and I am looking forward to continuing to work alongside these groups to support our students. This summer, I have had the opportunity to meet with Henry Clay’s amazing staff. I am thrilled to work with a staff that is so dedicated to ensuring both the academic success as well as the social and emotional development of each student. I look forward to supporting our staff to create the best learning environment possible for the 2021–2022 school year!

I am joining Henry Clay Elementary with 15 years of experience in education. I have worked as a classroom teacher in Montgomery County, Henrico County, and Hanover County. For the past four years, I served as the assistant principal at John M. Gandy Elementary. My husband, Zack, and I live in Hanover with our three daughters, Claire, Emily, and Samantha.

As a principal, I believe that all children can learn and should have access to the best educational opportunities possible. If there is ever a time that you would like to discuss your child’s school experience, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at (804)
365-8120 or via email. I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s educational journey!

In partnership,

Kristin Haas
