Principal's Message

Principal Terri KeckWelcome to another exciting year at Henry Clay Elementary School, home of the Tiger Cubs! Henry Clay has an amazing history of developing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to provide a rigorous academic program to every student in our care while helping them develop strong character and community values. Our positive, safe, and engaging learning environments are filled with a variety of programs and services to meet the learning needs of all our students.

This year we will be implementing the house system where everyone in our school community will be a member of a house. Each house represents a value that we want our students to display. These values are called the Tiger Values. Students will earn house points for displaying the Tiger Values. Grouping students and staff in houses provides additional opportunities for children to make positive relationships and connections with students and staff in our school community. The house system aims to give students an identity and sense of pride in a supportive environment. Implementing the house system will energize our character education program, build strong relationships, and increase school spirit.

The purpose of the house system is to create an environment where students feel connected and safe in more places than just their classroom. Our goal is to foster authentic relationships between students and teachers in all grade levels. We want students to feel like they are part of a team; therefore creating a place where students choose to come. Our goals for the house system include:

  • Improve student engagement
  • Increase attendance
  • Strengthen positive relationships within our school community

As principal of Henry Clay Elementary School, I can assure you that our students are our number one priority. Please know that we are here to support you and your child, and we welcome you to contact us if there is any way we can further assist you in meeting your child’s needs.

Sincerely,

Teresa M. Keck
